Door County Wisconsin 2006
A dining experience not to be missed. Dinner and a show. Or should I say, a show, then dinner.
Top Left - I can't remember the guy's name, but he's the fish boiler. He claims that this restaurant (I'll look up the name later and update this) invented the famous Door County Fish Boil. He also readily admits that all the restaurants in Door County that do a fish boil claim to have invented it, and that one of the others just might be right. Regardless, that big pot is filled with water, potatoes, and white fish fresh caught in Lake Michigan (which is a few hundred feet away to the right of these pictures). It all boils away for half an hour or so, with about 1-2 coffee cans of salt.
Top Right - When everthing is almost done, he tosses a coffee can full of kerosene onto the fire. Apparently they drink a lot of coffee in Door County. Anyway, the kerosene causes the fire to...
Bottom Left - ... erupt around the boiling pot. This raises the temperature of the water rapidly, causing the pot to boil over.
Bottom Right - The flames die down (partially from all the water flowing out of the pot), and dinner is served.
It really was very tasty. :)
